Research Interests
My research focuses on the changing nature of work, occupations and organizations. I have a particular interest in understanding how gender, education, nationality, and family status shape economic and organizational opportunity. I am author of Female Enterprise in the New Economy, which examines the dramatic rise of women's entrepreneurship, and co-author (with Harvey Krahn and Graham Lowe) of Work, Industry and Canadian Society (5th edition) which examines current trends and issues in the Canadian economy. I have published on a range of issues, including the impact of new technologies on work, gender in the new economy, caregiving, immigrant work opportunities, and women's entrance into non-traditional fields.
